Memories of Big Bend - Images in Raku
The focus of the exhibit will be a new collection of raku pots with images of mesquite tree and other scenes of the West. The artist recently visited Big Bend National Park and was inspired to continue the series that began with Texas pines. The stark beauty, isolation and visual contrasts stirred Ms. Broaddus to create the raku ideas in pottery and in sculpture form. The Matisse-like images will be displayed on pots, trays and wall-hangings.

New Display at HPGS
New at the shop this month is a a collection of Rachella Robinson clay jewelry that will also be on sale this month to benefit C.A.M.E.O. (Clay Arts Museum and Education Organization). C.A.M.E.O. is an outgrowth of the Potters Guild. Ms. Robinson was a long-time member of the Houston Potters Guild and was a favorite with the customers. Ms Robinson passed away in 2006 from cancer. The jewelry is part of a collection donated by Cathy Fuchs-Holman, a painter and a gallery member in the Potters Guild.
